LOOK BACK 2012 - Red Bull Supernatural Arrival and Inspection

ED’s Note – here’s a look back at last year’s arrival at the Red Bull Supernatural in outside Nelson, British Columbia. We’re back this year at the now ULTRANATURAL (see teaser) and are looking forward to another epic experience:

(Originally posted February 2012) -The day prior to the official launch of the Red Bull Supernatural riders had a chance to inspect the course. An upper section, with a 50 degree slope, littered with massive timber constructions provide a plethora of jumps, drop offs, transfers and pillow lines to pick from. The course then feeds into a large 60+ foot kicker that gaps into a 300-foot wide untracked landing. Finally riders have multiple options through a lower section that includes jumps, jibs, pillows and two quarterpipes. The unprecedented event will feature 18 of the world’s best riders. Each will have two runs (no practice) on an ungroomed slope. Eight will make the finals for a one run standoff. Losers buy drinks at Baldface – so I’m told. All in all – it will be the best snowboarding contest ever executed.
