MARK MCMORRIS CLAIMS SECOND DEW CUP AT THE DEW TOUR iON MOUNTAIN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mark McMorris is on fire this weekend! McMorris just picked up his second Dew Cup of the weekend in the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle event after pulling off a 95.00 in his second run with a hardway cab 270 gap to kinked rail and a cab 900 double cork followed by a frontside 270 and closed out his run with a double wildcat and a huge backside 1260 double cork which he used to secure his win in the Big Air contest on Saturday. After that nearly flawless run it was smooth sailing to the podium.

“It feels awesome,” said McMorris on his Dew Tour success. “I just can’t believe everything worked out the way it did. I just rode the way I needed to and everything aligned. The level of riding was insane. I’m just so happy.

The official Dew Tour press release as follows:

Men’s Freeski Slopestyle Finals went off in full force, as 12 athletes competed for a shot at the top of the podium. The top score of the day was awarded to RussHenshaw, with an 84.50. Henshaw’s run consisted of a lipslide 270, 270 onto the wallride, left double cork 1080, right 900, switch 270 to switch off, switch double cork 900 and a right double cork 1260.

“I am stoked that I walked away with the win,” said Henshaw. “It was pretty challenging conditions, but I think I had a bit of an advantage because I am a bit bigger than everyone. I thought the course was super sick. It had a real good flow to it.”

Earlier in the morning, the women took to the slopestyle course for Ski Slopestyle Finals. Kaya Turski used her experience to work through the weather and land a first place run. She began with a switch on front swap on the first rainbow box, followed by a disaster lipslide switch out on the secondfeature. She landed a switch unnatural 360 on the first jump, into a switch 540. Turski continued the run with a 270 onto the second rainbow box, a 540 and a switch 720 on the final jump.

“There’s a lot of great talent coming up,” said Turski. “The young girls are definitely stepping up and keeping me on my toes.” Closing out the final women’s competition of the weekend, Turski added that she’s “had a great time at the Dew Tour.”
