Must Watch - Shaun White Cuts Off His Hair (video)

Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, 26, made famous for his multiple gold medals, X Games glory and big red hair, which earned him the nickname Flying Tomato, went bigger than he ever yesterday by choosing to chop off his locks and donate them to #LocksofLove.

Made public by way of a youtube video he posted this morning, White takes an out-of-the-blue ride to the barber to remove one of the most iconic hair-dos in all of sports.

“I haven’t told anyone I’m doing this. I’m just going to show up and mind-freak people,” White said in the video testimonial.

The 2:09 segment chronicles White’s transition from wavy-haired soul shredder to short-haired preppy, made complete by a blue-colored button down.

“I did it for you LocksofLove, White comments mid-trim. “I’m, like, still panicking…I haven’t had this short of hair in forever.”

That forever is pushing over 10 years as he began growing out the do out in his early teens.

We give credit to Shaun not only for dedicating his long red mane to #locksoflove but for breaking free of a fashion-sense that has become synonymous with him and, to some in the mainstream set, snowboarding itself.

“I have been thinking about this for awhile,” White confessed in the video, clearly nervous about losing his long-standing look. “But it’s for a good cause so I’m going to do it.”
