FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER TERRY RICHARDSON PHOTOGRAPHS Numerous Red Bull Athletes

Red Bull has collaborated with famed fashion photographer Terry Richardson for an athlete portfolio shoot in NYC with six top athletes including Maya Gabeira and Julian Wilson. It’s not often that action sports athletes shoot with a high fashion superstar, but when Red Bull wanted an article about what the coming year holds for six of its stars for the January Red Bulletin Magazine<http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Video/Red-Bulletin-December-2012-021243294353045>, we went straight to the iconic celebrity photographer. Terry Richardson has been at the pinnacle of fashion photography for more than two decades thanks to his signature sexually-charged imagery with high-profile celebrities, and this shoot did not disappoint.

Julian Wilson didn’t mind getting his gear (semi) off for the edgy shoot and has a few words to say about fame, fear, glory and what to expect in 2013:

FAME: I don’t feel like I’m “famous.” Sure, I get recognized at all types of different locations and sometimes very surprising locations, which is cool, but a little surprising as well. I’m not sure what happens or if there’s a time when someone stipulates you are actually famous, but I don’t think I’m there yet.

FEAR: I really like big waves! But in saying that, when the waves are enormous there is definitely fear inside of me, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’m more afraid of things out of my control. I’m confident that if I’m in a situation where I can control the variables, then I will always be fine, but it’s those damn “uncontrollables” that scare me!

GLORY: I’m not chasing glory, but I am chasing success.

2013: I’ve had a good taste of success in 2012 and really want to carry that over to 2013.

Big wave Brazilian surfer Maya Gabeira was also part of the shoot, along with Freestyle MX madman Robbie Maddison, Olympic snowboarder and Dancing With The Stars’ Louie Vito, Bryce Menzies and Ashley Fiolek.
