Ford Supergirl Pro is This Weekend

100 of the world’s top female surfers will be converging at the Oceanside Pier for the Ford Supergirl Pro – the world’s largest female surf event – on August 2nd through the 4th. The free event features surf pros like Alana Blanchard, Lakey Peterson, Bethany Hamilton (Soul Surfer), Carissa Moore, Sage Peterson and more and will serve as the only women’s ASP 6-star qualifying event scheduled in North America for the 2013. The competition will run on Friday, August 2nd and Saturday, August 3rd, from 8 AM to 5 PM and on Sunday, August 4th from 10 AM to 4 PM.

In addition to presenting the best female surfing on the planet, the event will hold Surf & Sustainability Village at the iconic Oceanside Band Shell Stage, adjacent to the beach-front contest. The village is free and open to the public and includes free hairstyling by Paul Mitchell, autograph signings with the pros, including Bethany Hamilton signing at the GoBank booth on Saturday, fitness classes, a sustainability seminar, a concert with Tribal Theory and more.

The event marks the sixth year of Supergirl’s support of women’s surfing and is the second event of the 2013 Supergirl Jam Series, the action sports industry’s largest all-female competition and lifestyle series, featuring more than 150 female pros in surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding.  The Ford Supergirl Pro will be broadcast nationally on Fox Sports Net (FSN) Friday, October 18th at 5 PM and 11 PM.  There will be a live webcast from the event on Sunday, August 4th that will be shown on several surf industry web sites including
