January 23, 2016 – After being thrown into the air and crash landing on his left side, Ken Roczen ‘s timetable to return to racing is uncertain.
In the third race of the season in Anaheim, California; Roczen, who entered the race as the championship leader, was running in third when he was ejected from his bike over a triple jump.
Roczen and Honda Racing has released a statement updating the injury status of their rider but in all of the statements a timetable for return remains uncertain.
“Word from the hospital is that Roczen has suffered a compound fracture to the left forearm,” said in the statement. “Everyone at Honda is wishing him the best.”
After winning the opening two races of the season and leading in the championship points, the crash and the win by Ryan Dungey that night dropped Roczen to third place overall 18 points behind new points leader Ryan Dungey.
With no immediate racing in his future it is hard to imagine Roczen remaining in contention for the season championship.
