X Games Minneapolis 2017 - Harley-Davidson Flat Track

From Moto X Freestyle to the newly added Quarter Pipe High Air contest, the men of freestyle motocross and AMA Flat Track did not disappoint as they took to the air and the dirt at the 2017 summer X Games in Minneapolis.

Day One at the 2017 Summer X Games in Minneapolis featured Flat Track racing under the lights of the Mall of America. A sold out crowd was on hand to watch as the gates dropped to a night of strong racing.

On the short 1/3 mile dirt track built at the Mall of America, Sammy Halbert dominated throughout the entire night. Qualifying first overall, Halbert found himself running second to Jared Mees after the gates dropped through lap three. It was there that Halbert made a move in the corner and inside of Mees to move into the front and race out to a dominating 12 second margin of victory of Mees who held onto second.

“I wanted to come out here and add a gold to my resume,” said Halbert. “With Flat Track racing still very new to X Games, there are only a few riders that have X Games medals and I wanted to be one of those few. I had a great bike tonight and I made the most out of the opportunities I had.”

Results Harley-Davidson Flat Track

  1. Sammy Halbert – 6:26.085
  2. Jared Mees – 6:38.857
  3. Brad Baker – 6:41.828
