Danny Davis is on a role - from the Dew Tour to the Grand Prix and perhaps the podium in Vancouver. His performance in Breck and even more so at Wednesday's Grand Prix pipe finals in Mammoth show that he has all the right stuff needed for Olympic Gold.

Congrats on your win Wednesday. Have you ever stomped that run in competition before?

No, that was the first time in a contest ... or the first time really ever.

From what you were saying at the awards ceremony you sounded like you have other tricks you could've thown in if you wanted to. Do you have any plans to step it up from that run?

Yeah, I do, but I just haven t been doing them too well. I'll probably play it a little safer and do the same run again. Try to land that and then step it up a little bit.

How's the pipe today, you're currently qualified first?

It's good, it was fast this morning, It's all firm in there, so it's pretty fun.

A lot of people have predicted that halfpipe runs will eventually be double corks every hit back-to-back, do you see it going that way in the future?

Yeah, probably, but the one thing that always remains is the amplitude. If you're not going big, then no one really cares.

You've also had some impressive footage filming in the backcountry. Did you have to put that on hold due to the Olympics.

Yeah, just for the next month or so, then I'll film with Absinthe again. I'll get that going as soon as the Olympic stuff is over.

What does being in the Olympics mean to you?

Uh, it would be cool to go for America. Do it for my country, but it's kinda just another contest, you know? These contests are probably harder to do well in than the actual Olympics will be. It's a hard position actually because the Olympics is such a cool accomplishment, but the contest itself is pretty basic. There will be only 4 guys from the States and there's at least 15 that could go.

After today's event, what stands between you and the Olympics?

I need one more podium. I have one more podium to go, so I have this one (2nd Mammoth Olympic qualifier) and two more in Park City to do that. So, gotta get it somewhere in there.
