Surfing in space--artificial waves in the desert

The desert isn't exactly the first place, no make that 100,000th place we would think of to find surf. But lo and behold, Wadi Wadi surf park has defied conventionality and built an awesome artificial surf park smack dab right in the middle of the desert in the United Arab Emirates.  Their marketing angle is offering an alternative to surfers on a flat or crowded day at the beach. And not just that, many breaks are often dangerous to surf due to various reasons. Not sure if we would have to time (or resources) to hit up that part of the world but it's nice to know there is the technologically to create artificial surf parks. Now whether or not this would be considered 'real surfing' is a whole 'nother can of worms.
