Couture, culture or collaboration? Try all three with the new adidas Skateboarding collection

What happens when you put adidas Skateboarding with a New York-born hip-hop artist?

Inspiration.

This year, the adidas apparel line collaborated with A$AP Ferg for a second time to create a lineup of mismatched style sprouted from the roots of inner city Harlem. But don’t be fooled by the rocks that he’s got, A$AP created this adversity-defying line known as the adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collection to show that he has conquered the streets of New York City.

Sweet, right?

The adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collection bridges the gap between skate culture and hip-hop with contrasting styles worn by nomadic youth to a mashup of unique couture.

“I love working with adidas Skateboarding because I get to connect with a lot of cool kids and get involved in the culture. I’m excited about the new Trap Lord collection because we added a lot of elements into it,” said A$AP Ferg.

Featured in the new adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collection are several adidas heritage classics with historic artwork connections between skate, sport and hip-hop. The collaboration includes a pair of customized Matchcourt shoes, a windbreaker jacket, a pair of fleece pants, a jersey, a t-shirt and a hat.

A couple of my favorites from the line are below but a full list of the Trap Lord collection can be found by visiting the adidas Skateboarding site.

Matchcourt x Trap Lord Shoe

The Matchcourt x Trap Lord Shoe is court-inspired shoe with signature A$AP Ferg touch. Made with a premium leather upper and a rubber toe cap and outsole. The Harlem-inspired footwear provides feel, durability, and support, in a low-profile silhouette. The shoe features custom design details, including a vintage chalk-white outsole featuring A$AP Ferg’s artwork, the unique message carrying laces, as well as the flexible rubber toe cap for flick and enhanced wear protection.

Ferg Trap Hat

To complete the Trap Collection is the Ferg Trap Hat. It’s a flat brimmed, six panel cap that boasts the signature Trap Lord graphic on the front in a slightly raised rubberized ink. The Trap Hat also features an embroidered Trefoil on the back. Not only will the style be great for boarding or various outdoor occasions, the hat’s classic twilled construction will stay fitted and secured with a flexible, elastic band enclosed fitting.

Along with the collection’s debut, adidas Skateboarding and A$AP Ferg have announced the official music video for “Nandos” from the rapper’s new critically acclaimed album, “Still Striving.” This is the follow up record from “Always Strive And Prosper.” Similar to the message of the new Trap Lord collection, the video features narratives geared toward a group of wayward youth, cut between flashes of performance and skateboarding.
