Watch precious moment when a street dog realizes it’s being rescued

A street dog became helplessly tangled in a soccer net and people in the village outside Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, didn’t know how to free it. Plus, they are afraid of the dogs.

So a villager called a helpline to Animal Aid Unlimited, a rescue center, hospital and sanctuary for ownerless street animals in Udaipur.

“We found him with the strings of the net caught every which way around his legs and neck,” Animal Aid wrote on YouTube. “He had obviously been struggling for some time.”

The rescuer began untangling the dog’s head and then started cutting away the net. Upon realizing it was being rescued, the dog began to wag its tail—and continued doing so until the rescuer pulled it completely out of the net. It was a precious moment, to say the least.

“He sure was happy to be free!” Animal Aid wrote.

Animal Aid fed the dog, then took it back to its facility to treat it for mange and nurse it back to health.

In its company overview, Animal Aid says it’s “a charitable organization that runs a busy animal hospital and shelter in Udaipur…where ownerless street animals are rescued, healed, loved and returned to the neighborhoods from where they came.”

What ultimately happened to this dog wasn’t reported, but one can only hope it found a good home.
