Lion discovers that climbing down a tree is trickier than going up (video)

African lions, like domestic cats, experience more difficulty climbing down trees once they’ve scampered up onto their high branches.

The accompanying footage, captured at Nairobi National Park in Kenya, shows a lion beginning its descent from a tall tree in a forward position. (Note Nairobi’s skyline in the distance.)

But the cat quickly changes its mind and backs down the trunk, slowly and methodically. No need to call the local fire department!

The footage was captured last week by Paras Chandaria Wildlife Photography, which features “World of the Wild” photographs from Kenya and East Africa.

Nairobi National Park, Kenya’s first wilderness refuge, was established in 1947.
