Tourists take cover as waterspout rages across hotel swimming pool

Video has surfaced showing what appears to be a waterspout sweeping violently across a swimming pool at a resort in Panama City Beach, Fla. The footage, captured by Justin Ray Parker and sent to meteorologist James Spann, shows tourists reacting warily to the presence of this unpredictable weather phenomenon.

Some are seen seeking shelter as pool items are flung skyward.

Spann, attributing the waterspout to Subtropical Storm Alberto, stated late Monday in a Tweet: “Check this out… Alberto whipped up a mini-vortex today at the Shores of a Panama resort in Panama City Beach. Basically a waterspout over a pool.”

As guests watch in awe, a lone voice in the video, perhaps that of Parker, assesses the situation in three words: “That’s crazy, man!”

There were no reports of injuries caused by the mini-vortex.
