Surfer oblivious to great white shark lurking below him

A drone pilot in Australia hoping to capture footage of a seal frolicking in the waves at iconic Bondi Beach instead found himself worrying that he was about to witness a great white shark attack on a surfer.

“When I saw it I didn’t know what to do; I was too far to yell or anything,” Rob Norman of Knack Studios told Nine.com.au. “It was actually horrible to watch…I was ready to crash [the drone] into the water, that’s the only thing I could think to do [to warn the surfer].”

Norman posted the video Wednesday on Instagram and Facebook with these words: “Sometimes you’re better off just not knowing…”

Clearly the surfer was oblivious to the danger lurking below him.

The incident occurred as the sun was setting, a time experts say to avoid being in the water as that’s when great white sharks are more active.

“It didn’t look aggressive, but when it started to go for him I was worried,” Norman told Nine.com.au. “He had no idea. Luckily it just turned away…

“We shoot some pretty insane action all over the world but never thought we’d see something as insane as this.”
