A spectacular rollover crash during a vintage car race Saturday in Alaska was captured on video by a rearview camera mounted on a leading vehicle.
The accompanying footage shows a car driven by Rod Pucak clip another vehicle during an attempted high-speed pass, flip in the air and roll several times as pieces from Pucak’s vehicle are strewn across the track.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, Pucak was hospitalized overnight for evaluation but was said to have suffered only a broken rib.
The “Legends” event, held Saturday night at Alaska Raceway Park, featured cars from the 1930s and 1940s powered by Yahama motorcycle engines.
Michelle Maynor, manager of the track, witnessed the crash and said Pucak’s car was “pretty much totaled,” but added that other drivers have already chipped in to help pay for a new chassis.
The footage was captured by a camera mounted on a car driven by Eric Land.
